Dhaka: Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed announced today that the government is actively working to expand overseas employment opportunities as a strategy to increase foreign remittances. Dr. Ahmed highlighted these plans while presenting the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2026 through a pre-recorded speech broadcasted on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Ahmed emphasized the importance of developing skilled human resources to unlock new avenues for overseas employment, particularly in the growing field of caregiving in many developed nations. To meet this demand, he mentioned that initiatives are underway to provide necessary training for caregivers, as well as considering the launch of PhD courses in nursing education and the establishment of an international standard training center for nurse educators.

Dr. Ahmed also noted that the ‘Bangladesh Population Policy 2025’ is being formulated, updating the existing population policy to harness the demographic dividend and build a prosperous nation. Additionally, the ‘Bangladesh National Family Planning Strategy Paper 2025-2030’ is nearing completion, aiming to achieve zero preventable maternal deaths and eliminate gender-based violence by 2030.
