Government Approves 10-Day Holiday for Eid-ul-Azha

Dhaka: The Council of Advisers has given its approval for a 10-day holiday to mark the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, starting from June 5. This decision was confirmed today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam announced the decision via a status update on his verified Facebook account, stating, “There will be a 10-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday, according to a Cabinet decision. Offices will be open on Saturdays on May 17 and May 24.”



During a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy, Alam elaborated that the holiday period will span from June 5 to June 14. He also addressed the specific arrangements for financial institutions, noting that banks will declare their holidays in accordance with the Bank Company Act 1991, while private companies will have the autonomy to set their own holiday schedules.



The press briefing was attended by Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul alongside Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
