Government Allocates Tk 285 Crore for July Uprising Victims and Families

Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Mohammad Yunus announced the government’s allocation of Taka 285 crore for the victims and families affected by the July mass uprising. He shared this information during a national address on the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Azha.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Yunus emphasized the government’s commitment to those who sacrificed during the uprising. Out of the 834 martyrs’ families, 630 have received bank cheques worth Taka 10 lakh each for savings certificates, totaling Taka 63 crore. The remaining families will receive savings certificates once issues concerning the identification of inheritors are resolved.



In addition to supporting the martyrs’ families, Taka 106 crore has been disbursed to approximately 12,500 individuals injured in the uprising. A total of 15,393 injured have received treatment in various hospitals. Furthermore, around 40 individuals have been sent to Singapore, Thailand, and Russia for advanced medical care through government initiatives, with 11 more through the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. This medical assistance has cost the government Taka 61 crore to date.



Professor Yunus also mentioned ongoing efforts to send 28 more individuals to Singapore, Thailand, and Turkey for further treatment. Additionally, 26 specialist doctors from the UK, USA, France, Singapore, Thailand, China, Malaysia, and Nepal have visited Bangladesh, offering their services free of charge, with the government covering only their travel expenses.
