Gopalganj: The traditional ‘Bronze Jewellery’ of Muksudpur upazila of the district has been recognised as a Geographical Indication (GI) product of Bangladesh. It has become the second product of the district to achieve this recognition. Earlier, Gopalganj’s ‘Rasgolla’ received GI product recognition. On March 12, 2024, the then Deputy Commissioner Kazi Mahbubul Alam applied to the Bangladesh Ministry of Industries to include ‘Bronze Jewellery’ as the second GI product. After receiving the certificate, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Kamruzzaman stated that the ‘Bronze Jewellery’ of Jallirpar has gained recognition throughout the country. It has a reputation throughout the country.

He noted that this recognition will help improve the employment and living standards of craftsmen involved in making bronze jewellery. The bronze industry-based economy is expected to become more dynamic.
