Gold bars worth Taka 24 lac recovered at Shahjalal airport

DHAKA, Feb 3, 2017 (BSS) - Customs officials arrested a Dubai returned passenger along with four gold bars weight of around half a kilogram worth about Taka 24 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city in the early hours of today.

"Acting on a tip-off we arrested one Awlad Hossain, of Gazipur, from the airport and recovered four gold bars kept inside his shoe," joint commissioner of customs Sohel Rahman told BSS.

The value of the seized gold bars is Taka 24 lakh, he said, adding that the arrestee, who returned to Dhaka by a flight (B-9515) of Air Arabian from Dubai on the early hours of today.

A case was lodged with Bimanbandar Police Station to this end.
