Dhaka: Bangladesh on Wednesday explored avenues for expanding cooperation with Denmark and Germany in trade and investment, climate action, renewable energy, development partnership, skills development, manpower mobility, migration, and inception of FTA negotiations with the European Union (EU). Ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh Christian Brix M¸ller and Ambassador of Germany Dr. Rdiger Lotz separately met State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed issues of mutual interest.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Ambassadors warmly congratulated the State Minister on her assumption of duties and expressed optimism that bilateral relations between Bangladesh and both countries would be further strengthened during this Government’s tenure. The State Minister acknowledged the longstanding development cooperation with Bangladesh across key sectors with both Denmark and Germany.
She sought support for Bangladesh’s candidature for the upcoming Presidency of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly for the term 2026-2027, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She reiterated that the sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis lies in the safe, voluntary, early, and dignified repatriation of the Rohingyas to Myanmar.
The meeting concluded with expressing satisfaction with the steady progress of the existing relations. Both Ambassadors reaffirmed their commitment to work closely to further advance the longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship.
