Gazipur: The government has appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Industrial Police Md Israil Hawlader as the commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP). 'The order issued for public interest will come into effect immediately,' according to the home ministry notification issued here today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the home affairs ministry issued a notification in this regard signed by deputy secretary Abu Sayeed. The decision follows the temporary suspension of the previous GMP commissioner, Dr Md Nazmul Karim Khan, on November 10, 2025.
The appointment is part of an effort to ensure effective law enforcement and public safety in the metropolitan area. As the new commissioner, Md Israil Hawlader is expected to bring his expertise and experience from the Industrial Police to address the challenges faced by Gazipur.
