Dhaka: The interim government has officially established the Bangladesh Dairy Development Board, which becomes operational starting today. The creation of the board is part of a broader effort to enhance the production and management of milk and dairy products within the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government also enacted the 'Bangladesh Dairy Development Board Act, 2023', which took effect on the same day. This legislative move is aimed at increasing milk and dairy production as a balanced food source, ensuring quality and control, and efficiently managing the marketing and related affairs of these products.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock took a significant step by issuing two gazette notifications on August 28. These notifications were subsequently published in official gazettes, marking a pivotal moment in the country's dairy sector.
The introduction of the new Dairy Development Board is expected to invigorate the country's milk production, processing, quality control, and market management. The government's objectives include boosting local milk production, guaranteeing fair prices for farmers, and delivering safe milk to consumers.
