Fugitive convict held in Ctg after 9 years

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)

arrested a fugitive convict, who was sentenced to 10 years jail term, from

city’s Oxyzen Crossing area on Friday evening after nine years.

Shariful Alam, senior assistant director of the RAB, said the arrested Nur

Nobi, son of Fazal Ahmed, hailed from Dholoi village under Hathazari upazila

of the district was convicted over a drug case in Ashulia Thana before nine

years.

The accused [Nur Nobi] left the area and went into hiding after filling the

case.

He has been convicted by the court in his absentia in the case filed with

Ashulia Police Station in Dhaka.

Later, a Dhaka court awarded 10 years imprisonment to Nur Nabi and fined Taka

50,000, in default, he will serve more six months of rigorous imprisonment.

He was handed over to the respective police station for further legal action.
