Dhaka: French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc S©r©-Charlet emphasized the importance of treating French and European companies on an equal footing with others in Bangladesh, highlighting the potential benefits of a level playing field for all involved. He stated this during the inauguration of Bangladesh’s new Air Traffic Management (ATM) Centre, alongside Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the French Embassy in Dhaka described the new ATM Centre as a significant step forward in Bangladesh’s aviation modernization and a notable milestone in its partnership with France. The French Ambassador underscored the project as a testament to the deepening cooperation between France and Bangladesh. He noted that this collaboration serves as an excellent example for companies, demonstrating the effectiveness of cooperation and the potential for developing new links between the two countries.

The ambassador also reiterated France’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s aviation sector by enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and expanding future capacity and connectivity. He expressed optimism that the newly elected democratic government in Bangladesh presents an opportune time to increase cooperation and forge new partnerships, with both France and the European Union ready to engage.

The project, led by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, introduces a nationwide system designed to enhance airspace safety, efficiency, and capacity. Developed with support from the French technology company Thales, the new infrastructure aligns with International Civil Aviation Organization standards and incorporates advanced air traffic control and surveillance technologies.

Central to this modernization effort is the newly constructed Air Traffic Management Centre, along with a cutting-edge control tower and radar facilities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. These upgrades offer comprehensive surveillance coverage, allowing for more precise aircraft tracking and improved coordination across Bangladesh’s airspace.
