Dhaka:The fourth session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, set to commence on November 9, is anticipated to span approximately 10 days, according to Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the length of the session is yet to be finalized, with a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee scheduled for November 8 at 4 pm to decide its duration. The session might extend until November 20.
Chief Whip Moni indicated that five to six bills are expected to be tabled for discussion, alongside issues raised by the opposition. However, he clarified that no constitutional amendment bill is anticipated during this session. The proposed bills will address other topics.
The session is being convened as per the constitutional requirement that mandates a parliamentary sitting every 60 days. Moni mentioned that recommendations for a constitutional amendment might be prepared by December, with a possibility of presentation in the January session, contingent upon opposition cooperation.
The session, summoned by President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir under Article 72(1) of the Constitution, will commence at 330 pm next Monday in the parliament chamber of the National Parliament Building.
Previously, the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, formed after the February 12 national parliamentary election, occurred from March 12 to April 30, passing 94 bills over 25 working days. The second session passed 10 government bills in 26 working days from June 7 to July 15, with extensive budget discussions. The third session, held from August 27 to September 10, passed six bills and formed or reconstituted 35 parliamentary committees and one special committee.
