Brahmanbaria: Four workers died after inhaling ‘toxic gas’ from a septic tank at Galania village in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan, 18, son of Dulal Mia, Hridoy, 35, son of Nannu Mia, Imam Hossain, 35, son of Mosharraf Hossain of the village, and Arman, 21, son of Shukkur Mia of Dharanti village.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Manjur Quader, Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Police Station, reported that Hridoy and Mehedi first climbed down into the septic tank, which was under construction at the house of Ali Mia, around noon. They fell unconscious shortly after entering the tank.
After failing to receive any response from Hridoy and Mehedi, Imam and Arman entered the septic tank as well, only to fall unconscious. On receiving information about the incident, a firefighting unit arrived at the location and recovered the bodies of the four workers at around 5:00 pm. The operation was confirmed by Md Faruk Ahmed, deputy assistant director of Brahmanbaria Fire Service and Civil Defense.
