Dhaka: Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, MP, emphasized the necessity for regional cooperation, strategic dialogue, and research-based knowledge sharing to ensure peace, stability, and security in South Asia amidst a shifting global landscape. His remarks were delivered as he spoke at the inaugural ceremony of the ‘1st CFS International Conference’ at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), serving as the chief guest, according to a release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies (FSSS) of BUP organized this two-day conference at the Swadhinata Auditorium, focusing on ‘National Security of South Asia in the Context of the Emerging World Order’. The Speaker highlighted the rapidly evolving nature of global security challenges, noting that apart from traditional military threats, issues such as cyber security, climate change, terrorism, migration crises, and geopolitical competition are reshaping the security landscape of South Asia.
The Speaker underscored the importance of fostering effective dialogue among researchers, academics, and policymakers. He advocated for universities to evolve beyond educational institutions into hubs for policy support and strategic thinking. Esteemed keynote speakers at the conference included Dr Pramod Jaiswal from Nepal, Subhashini Abeyasinghe from Sri Lanka, Dr Salma Malik from Pakistan, and Dr Greg Simons from Sweden, as mentioned by the ISPR.
The conference also witnessed participation from distinguished professors and researchers hailing from various universities and research institutions across Bangladesh. The event was attended by BUP Vice-Chancellor Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, along with deans of different faculties, senior officials, teachers, researchers, students, and other invited guests. The two-day conference facilitated numerous academic sessions, panel discussions, and research paper presentations, fostering a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange and policy-oriented dialogue, the ISPR added.
