Four New Subjects to be Introduced in Class VI Curriculum from 2027

Cumilla:Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced that four new subjects will be added to the Class VI curriculum starting in 2027.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new subjects include joyful learning, technical education, sports, and culture. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the 53rd National Summer Sports Competition at the Bhasha Shoinik Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

Minister Milon emphasized the importance of engaging students in creativity, technical skills, sports, and cultural activities alongside their academic studies from an early age. He also mentioned that the curriculum would undergo changes and revisions as necessary from 2028. Additionally, the government is considering adding more books to the curriculum to meet students' needs and the evolving demands of the times.

Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin, speaking as a special guest, addressed the impact of the ongoing war in the Middle East on international gas and fuel oil prices, which have affected Bangladesh. Despite this, he noted that diesel prices in Bangladesh remain lower than in neighbouring countries, due to higher government subsidies intended to keep prices affordable.

Mahdi Amin highlighted that the current crisis is global and not confined to any single nation. He assured that the government is working to address the situation rationally, aiming to minimize the burden on the public.

The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Bangladesh, Dhaka. Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher and Cumilla-10 constituency lawmaker Md Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan were also present. Students from various schools, madrasas, and technical education institutions across Bangladesh are participating in the 53rd Summer National Sports Competition.
