Dhaka: Four more children have succumbed to suspected measles across the country in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths linked to confirmed measles and its symptoms to 967 between March 15 and August 30.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room released a press statement today detailing the situation. The report highlighted that 1,151 new suspected measles cases were documented in the past day, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 156,829 during the specified period.
In the past 24 hours alone, 365 confirmed measles cases were recorded, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 19,218 since March 15. In the same timeframe, 137,347 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals, with 132,292 patients recovering and being discharged.
The press release further revealed that while four individuals died from suspected measles in the past 24 hours, the total number of children who have died from suspected measles stands at 868 since March 15. Notably, there were no deaths from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours, though 99 individuals have died from confirmed measles since March 15.
