Dhaka:Police have arrested four additional suspects from the Adabor area in connection with an attack on a building in the Shyamoli Housing area. The arrests took place early Tuesday, following ongoing investigations.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the suspects, identified as Rajib Hawladar, 30, Sagar alias Choto Bigar, 24, Shakib, 23, and Rashed, 24, were detained by a police team around 205 am in the Khalpar area near the Nobodoy Housing Kitchen Market. Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Akhter Hossain stated that the suspects attempted to attack the police to evade capture, prompting officers to fire shots. Rajib and Sagar sustained bullet injuries and were taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Rajib is the main suspect in a murder case in the Mohammadpur area, while Sagar is wanted in eight different cases with the Adabor and Mohammadpur police stations. During the operation, police also retrieved three sharp weapons, including a machete, from the suspects.
This brings the total number of arrests related to the incident to ten. The attack occurred on Saturday at approximately 630 am, when 15-20 masked men, armed with local weapons and firearms, targeted the building in Shyamoli Housing. They attempted to forcibly enter the premises, causing damage to the main gate, doors, and windows. The attack is believed to have stemmed from a long-standing ownership dispute over the building. A case has been filed with the Adabor Police Station as investigations continue.
