Gobindaganj: Gobindaganj Thana Police, in a drive, arrested four members of a hacker gang from Kazirchak area under Taluk Kanupur union of Gobindaganj upazila here on Friday. The arrested are Swapon Miah, son of Shahidul Islam, Sourav Rahman, son of Samsur Rahman, Hasan Rahman, son of late Abdul Mannan of Kazirchak area, and Nur Alam Sarker, son of Raza Miah of Sarkerpara area of the union.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a team of the Gobindaganj Thana Police conducted a raid in one’s house in the area and detained the gang members red-handed as they were engaging in hacking activities. The hackers had been withdrawing money from the allowances meant for poor individuals selected for the government’s social safety net program. They accomplished this by hacking into bkash, Nagad, and Rocket accounts of the beneficiaries over an extended period, police stated.
Later, the arrested individuals were sent to jail hazot through the court, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Thana Mozammel Haque.
