Family sources indicated that Tuhin was an official at a private company, Grand Power Limited, in Dhaka's Shyamoli area, and resided in Mirpur with his family due to his job. The family had traveled to Cox's Bazar on October 17 for a vacation, checking in at the seaside TUPTUP Resto and Resort the following day.

The fire, which broke out on the morning of October 18, resulted in the deaths of all four family members, along with seven other people. Tuhin's cousin, Khalid Hossain, explained that the victims were burned beyond recognition, and their identities were confirmed through DNA tests.

In the wake of this tragedy, Tuhin's father, Matiar Rahman, called on authorities to prevent the construction of unsafe resorts along the seashore.
