Narayanganj: Four people, including a minor girl, from the same family suffered burns following a gas stove leakage explosion in Sonargaon on Saturday morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims-Alauddin, 35, his daughters Shifa Akhter, 14, and Shimla Akhter, 4, along with his mother Zarina Begum, 65-were promptly rescued by neighbors and transported to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for medical treatment.
Salma Akhter, Alauddin's sister, mentioned that the family resided in a rented house. She recounted, "In the morning, there was a loud explosion in the kitchen, and all of them were badly burnt. Fortunately, the neighbors managed to rescue them quickly."
Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the Burn Institute, confirmed the victims are under medical care. He detailed the injuries as Alauddin suffering 40 percent burns, Shifa 12 percent, Shimla 30 percent, and Zarina Begum 20 percent burns. All victims are admitted to the ward and receiving necessary treatment.
Authorities have commenced an investigation into the gas leakage that caused the explosion.
