Four banned militant outfit members held in city

Police arrested four members of a banned

militant outfit Ansar al Islam while conducting drive in the city last night.

The arrested are Mohammad Shahin alias Omar, M Saiful Islam, M Hanifuzzaman

alias Biplob and M Al Mamun.

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of the Dhaka

Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them from city's Jatrabari area on

Thursday night, said CTTC's Head and Additional Police Commissioner M

Manirul Islam.

Police also recovered different training materials including three machetes

from their possession, according to the DMP official.

Monirul said the arrested persons were active members of the banned

militant outfit Ansar al Islam.

After recruiting members, the outfit leaders take them at Karmajal of the

mangrove forest Sundarban to provide trainings based on the ideology of Ansar

al Islam. Later, they brought back to Dhaka to materialize their plans and

targets, he said.

They used to communicate each other with Facebook messenger group, the

police official added.

A case has been filed against them in this connection with Jatrabari Police

Station and they were produced before the court seeking 10 day remand prayer.
