Bagerhat:Four individuals were apprehended with 75 kilograms of cannabis during a Special Response Battalion (SRB-6) operation at a checkpoint in Mongla upazila early today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the raid was conducted by a team from the Headquarters Company of SRB-6 around 1:20 am. It took place on the Morelganj-Mongla road in the Brahmanmath area of Chandpai Union under Mongla Police Station.
The operation was initiated based on a tip-off, leading the team to establish a checkpoint and search passing vehicles. During this search, they discovered 75 kilograms of cannabis on a passenger bus and detained four individuals.
The arrested were identified as Md Ibrahim, 23, from Fulhata village in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat; Parvez Ahmed, 25, from Baikunthapur in Rangpur; Aminur Rahman, 32, from Belubalarhat area under Rangpur Kotwali Police Station; and Nur Amin, 28, from Baikunthapur.
In addition to the cannabis, the law enforcement team seized the bus allegedly used to transport the narcotics. The confiscated items were secured in the presence of witnesses, following legal procedures, as detailed in the release.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act is being filed against those arrested with Mongla Police Station. The individuals and seized narcotics will be handed over to the police station for further legal proceedings, as stated by SRB-6.
