Dhaka: Fortis Football Club made a commanding start in the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) as they thrashed ChattogramCity Football Club 6-0 in one of the opening day fixtures at the Bashundhara Kings arena today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Gambian forward Pa Omar and Japanese forward Noriki Akada were pivotal in Fortis's victory, each scoring twice. Their efforts were complemented by forwards Mohammad Ibrahim and Rafayel Tudu, who added to the tally with goals in the 79th and 82nd minutes, respectively, in what turned out to be a one-sided affair.
In another opening day fixture, Fakirerpool Young Men's Club secured a 2-1 victory over Dhaka Wanderers Club. Gambian forward Sulayman Sillah was instrumental, scoring twice in the 35th and 41st minutes. Despite a goal from Australian forward Angus John Baily in the 52nd minute, Dhaka Wanderers could not overcome Fakirerpool's lead.
Meanwhile, PWD Sporting Club and Abahani Limited ended their match in a goalless draw at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj, showcasing strong defensive performances from both sides.
In the final match of the day at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur, Bangladesh Police Football Club narrowly defeated Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society. The decisive moment came in the 90th minute, courtesy of forward Hossain Mohammad Arian, who secured the win with a solitary goal.
