Former CEC ATM Shamsul Huda Dies at 83

Dhaka: Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) ATM Shamsul Huda today passed away at the age of 83. ‘Former CEC and husband of my elder sister Shamsul Huda died at his Dhaka’s Gulshan residence around 9am today,’ Ashfaque Quadri, brother-in-law of Huda told BSS.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shamsul Huda was brought to the United Hospital after he fell sick at his residence this morning, where the attending doctors pronounced him dead. His body will be kept at the morgue of the hospital, and his funeral will be held after his daughter returns from the United States.



Huda is survived by his wife and daughter. The ninth parliamentary election was held under his leadership in 2008.
