Dhaka: Former BNP lawmaker from Bhola-2 constituency Md Hafiz Ibrahim has been acquitted from a Rajuk plot scam case today. The Special Judge Court no-4 of Dhaka ruled in his favor, stating that the allegations against him were not substantiated. The former lawmaker was present in the court when the judgment was announced. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Director (DD) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Md Jahangir Hossain filed the case against Md Hafiz Ibrahim with Motijheel Thana on March 13, 2017. The case alleged that Hafiz Ibrahim had acquired a plot of five katha in the Banani residential area by providing false information to the Rajdhani Unnayan Katripokkha (Rajuk) during his tenure as an MP from 2001 to 2006. The allegations specified that on January 25, 2004, Hafiz Ibrahim applied for a plot allocation in the Gulshan-Banani area, declaring to Rajuk that neither he nor his family owned any plot, flat, land, lease, or house in greater Dhaka City. Following his application, Raju k temporarily allocated the five-katha plot in Banani on May 8, 2005, and later handed over a lease deed on December 27, 2005. However, the ACC's investigation revealed that Hafiz Ibrahim already owned land in the Gulshan area, totaling seven kathas, as of April 10, 2005. The ACC claimed that he had acquired the Banani plot through fraudulent means by misleading the competent authority.
