Dhaka: Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) hosted an Iftar at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday, bringing together senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomats stationed in Dhaka, and journalists, reflecting strong bonds of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect. Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, MP addressed the gathering.
According to United News of Bangladesh, DCAB President AKM Moinuddin delivered the welcome remarks, greeting all, including diplomats stationed in Dhaka and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Former DCAB President Masud Karim conducted the munajat, while DCAB General Secretary Emrul Kayesh conducted the programme.
Foreign Secretary Ambassador Asad Alam Siam, Secretary Md Nazrul Islam, Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, and BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey were among the notable attendees. They were joined by Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma, Maldives High Commissioner Shiuneen Rasheed, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, Trkiye Ambassador Ramis Sen, Thailand Ambassador Thitiporn Chirasawadi, Indonesian Ambassador Listyowati, Swiss Ambassador Reto Renggli, and Kosovo’s Ambassador Lulzim Pllana.
Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Badhe, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy Liu Yuyin, U.S. Mission spokesperson Poornima Rai, and Counselor for Press and Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Embassy Monica Shie were also present. Diplomats and officials from the missions of Canada, Nepal, Norway, Sweden, Germany, the European Union, and South Korea joined the event along with senior journalists.
DCAB, which represents journalists from newspapers, news agencies, television channels, and online portals covering diplomatic affairs, is set to step into its 28th year soon. The association began its journey on March 16, 1998.
