Five Shariah-Based Banks to Merge Soon, Says BB Governor

Dhaka: Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr. Ahsan H Mansur today announced that the merger process of five financially struggling shariah-based banks is nearing completion. He assured that no employees would lose their jobs as a result of this merger.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Mansur shared that the merger of the five Islamic banks is anticipated to be finalized within the next few months. He addressed concerns about job security during a press conference at the central bank's boardroom, emphasizing that employees have no reason to worry.

The banks involved in the merger are First Security Islami Bank, Global Islami Bank, Union Bank, Social Islami Bank, and EXIM Bank. Dr. Mansur expressed his expectation that the subsequent government will continue this ongoing process to ensure its successful completion.
