Dhaka: Five more children have died with symptoms resembling measles across the country in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 477 since March 15. During the same period, the total number of infected patients has reached 877, according to a regular report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the number of suspected measles patients in the last 24 hours was 826, bringing the total number of suspected measles cases since March 15 to 67,905. In the past 24 hours, 51 cases of measles have been confirmed, with the total number of confirmed cases reaching 8,885 since March 15.
Since March 15, hospitals have admitted a total of 54,182 suspected measles patients. During the same period, 50,926 patients have recovered and been discharged. No deaths from confirmed measles have been recorded in the past 24 hours, while 88 people have died from confirmed measles since March 15.
The Dhaka division has reported the highest number of suspected measles cases, with 32,072 cases. Among these, 6,165 cases have been confirmed as measles.
