Chattogram: Five people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Fatikchhari and Banshkhali upazilas of Chattogram district on Monday. In Fatikchhari, a man and his son lost their lives when a bus collided with their motorcycle at Pidong around 10:30 am, as reported by Mobarak Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nazirhat Highway Police Station.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased in the Fatikchhari accident were identified as Muhammad Shahjahan, 48, and Muhammad Arif, 18. In response to the accident, local residents set the bus ablaze. The police apprehended the bus driver, Md Russel, 38, from the scene.
In a separate incident in Fatikchhari, a bus struck a motorbike around 4:30 pm in Lelang union, resulting in the death of Rabiul Hossain Robi, 24, and injuring another individual.
In Banshkhali, two more fatalities occurred when a fish-laden pick-up van crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Munsuria Bazar in the afternoon. OC Rabiul Haque of Banshkhali Police Station identified the deceased as Bahadur Alam, 28, and Md Noman, 35. The victims were on their way back to Chattogram city for work following the Eid vacation. The injured were transported to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.
