Dhaka: Elderly politician and former minister Tofail Ahmed passed away at a private hospital here today while undergoing treatment. 'Tofail Ahmed breathed his last at 3.30pm today at Square Hospital,' his son-in-law Dr. Tauhiduzzaman Tuhin told reporters. He was 82.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tofail is survived by his only daughter, relatives, and a host of admirers and well-wishers to mourn his death. He had been suffering from old-age complications for a long time. The former minister was admitted to the hospital with respiratory and cardiac complications on September 24, 2025.
Tofail Ahmed was born on October 22, 1943, at Koralia village under Dakshin Dighaladi union of Bhola Sadar upazila. He was elected Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) vice-president for the 1968-69 session.
