Rangpur: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted three separate operations over the last 24 hours, leading to the arrest of five individuals suspected of drug trading and the seizure of a significant quantity of phensedyl in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 603 bottles of smuggled phensedyl were confiscated during these operations, as detailed in press releases issued by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13, Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Hossain. The operations were initiated following a tip-off.
In the first operation, a RAB-13 team seized 224 bottles of phensedyl and arrested one individual, identified as Md Shafiqul Islam, 40, from Sebokdas Nithok Dakshin Para village in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat, at 4:10pm on Friday.
In the second operation, another team of RAB-13 confiscated 100 bottles of phensedyl and detained one individual, identified as Md Wahed Ali, 28, from Paschim Kisamat Kholeya village under Sadar upazila in Rangpur, at 1pm on Saturday.
In a third operation, RAB-13 officials intercepted an auto rickshaw, seizing 279 bottles of phensedyl and arresting three individuals. The arrests took place in the Tushbhander area under Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district at 2:20pm on Saturday. The detainees were identified as Md. Sabuj Ali, 34, Md. Lutfar Rahman, 29, and Md. Hafizul Islam, 28, all residents of village Lotabor under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat district.
The apprehended individuals have been handed over to the respective police stations in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts for further legal proceedings, as stated in the press releases.
