Five Arrested for Distributing Banned Bangladesh Chhatra League Leaflets

Dhaka: A court here today placed five individuals, including college teacher Mukib Miah, on a three-day remand each in a case lodged under the anti-terrorism act for distributing leaflets of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the other four remanded individuals include Jubo League leader Kafil Haider Sajal, Jubo League activists Km Saiful Khan and Sheikh Mohammad Hafiz, and BCL leader Abdus Salam Lavlu. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam issued the remand order after police presented the accused in court, requesting a 10-day remand for each in connection with the case filed at Shahbagh Police Station.



The five were arrested in the city’s Mirpur area on February 3. They were apprehended for organizing a sudden procession in front of the National Press Club on February 1 and distributing the controversial BCL leaflets.
