First hajj flight leaves Ctg with 419 pilgrims

The first hajj flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines today left Chattogram for Madina of Saudi Arabia with 419 hajj pilgrims.

Bangladesh Biman flight number BG-3401 left for Madina at 3.50 am today.

Director of Shah Amanat Airport Group Captain Taslim Ahmed inaugurated the hajj flight at the airport exchanging greetings with the hajj pilgrims and offered prayers with them.

He said more than 10,000 pilgrims from Chattogram will go to Madina to perform hajj this year.

Chattogram District Manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Sajal Barua said the government has taken preparations to ensure smooth movement of hajj flights this year. Necessary measures have been taken to stop any sorts of harassment to the pilgrims, he added.

According to the bilateral agreement between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, a total of 1 lakh 22 thousand 221 Bangladeshi pilgrims will be able to perform hajj this year. Out of this, half of the total passengers will be transported by Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights, sources said.

Over 10,000 pilgrims will perform hajj under the government hajj management through 22 dedicated haj flights of Bangladesh Biman from Chattogram airport.
