The first death anniversary of late social worker and politician Tilak Prasad Sapkota has been conducted amid a function here.
Present on the occasion were people from different walks of life including Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, President of NC Gandaki Province Shukraj Sharma, Minister for Agriculture and Land Management of Gandaki Province Mahendra Dhoj GC, central chairperson of the Nepal Santa Samaj Swami Gyanananda Saraswati, also head of the Harihar Sanyas Aashram Devghat, and Swami Kamalnayancharya of the Muktinan Pithadhish among others.
The participants discussed the contributions of late Sapkota. On the occasion, a blood donation was organised, audio visual materials on the biography of late Sapkota presented, a special edition of a magazine dedicated to him launched, and a poetry symposium organised.

aj Binodi, Chief Editor of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti Yek Raj Pathak, former member of Gandaki Province Assembly Bishnu Lamichhane and Prof Dr Narayan Prasad Khanal unveiled a special edition of a magazine, ‘Bijaya Khabar’ dedicated to late Sapkota.
The magazine highlights the work of Sapkota in the field of social service and his political journey.
Similarly, litterateurs Lamsal, Hiralal Kandel, and Laxmikanta Sharma (Lakash) cited poetry relating to the contributions of Sapkota.
On the occasion, the NC Gaidakot-8 ward committee organised a blood donation programme. A total of 35 people donated blood.
Having constantly fought for the establishment of democracy and the building of a decent political culture, Sapkota died on November 9, 2022 at the age of 79. Father of Krishna Prasad Sapkota, RSS’s senior editor, he joined the campaign of socioeconomic transformation through social service and politics during an important time of his life. He was the founding guardian of the NC Gaidakot.

ive since 2015 BS, he formally took the NC membership handed by people’s leader BP Koirala. During his lifetime, he contributed in various fields of language, culture, religion, social work and development activities.
