Savar: The first batch of young women’s fifteen-day basic self-defense training concluded at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP) today. BKSP director (training) and project director Colonel Md. Golam Mabud Hasan was present at the closing ceremony as the chief guest and handed over certificates and training allowances to the trainees.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Colonel Golam Mabud Hasan emphasized the importance of the training during his speech, stating, “This basic training will play a strong role in building a healthy, strong youth society and defending ourselves.” He expressed hope that the trained youth would always be prepared to face any disaster in the country.

The basic self-defense training for youth primarily focuses on Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, and Shooting (Air Gun). The program aims to boost the confidence of the youth, enhance physical balance, discipline, and self-control, and improve their physical fitness, all of which are intended to have a positive impact on their lives.

The training is available to genuine citizens of Bangladesh aged 18-35 from across the country who have at least an SSC pass and are physically and mentally healthy. The registration is conducted online on a first-come, first-served basis for this 15-day full residential program.

In total, 8,850 youths are scheduled to be trained in 114 batches at various times, comprising 8,250 in 102 batches for men and 600 in 12 batches for women. Earlier, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain formally inaugurated the basic self-defense training, which is an initiative by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
