‘Firedekha’ Distributes Eid Gifts and Scholarships in Rangpur

Rangpur: Marking the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the literary, cultural, and social organization “Firedekha” distributed Eid gifts for the 13th time among children and adolescents, and awarded scholarships to meritorious female students from the Rangpur region for the third time.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, more than two hundred children and adolescents from Rangpur city and neighboring upazilas received Eid gifts during a program organized at the Rangpur Zilla School Auditorium. Boys were given pants and shirts, while girls received frocks. The organization has been involved in social welfare activities along with literary and cultural initiatives for the past 13 years.



Cynthia Khan, the Vice-president of the Bank of America, mountaineer, poet, and novelist, sponsored the scholarships and Eid gifts. The event was attended by notable figures, including Additional DIG of Bangladesh Police Abdur Razzaque, writer Rezaul Karim Mukul, Headmaster Abul Kalam Azad, and several poets and members of ‘Firedekha’.



The program, presided over by ‘Firedekha’ President Tapas Mahmud and moderated by General Secretary Shakil Masud, also awarded a total of Taka 2,40,000 in scholarships to meritorious female students in Rangpur. Each student received a Taka 24,000 scholarship for one year. The recipients were from various academic institutions, including Begum Rokeya University and Rajshahi Medical College.



Speakers at the event commended the initiative by ‘Firedekha’ and Cynthia Khan, highlighting the encouragement it provides to children and female students in the region. The distribution of new clothes brought joy to the children in anticipation of the Eid-ul-Fitr festival. The program concluded in the evening after a lively and heartwarming atmosphere.
