Chandpur:A devastating fire broke out in the Machuakhal area of Matlab Dakshin upazila, completely destroying five homes and resulting in an estimated financial loss of Tk 40 lakh.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the fire began around 9:00 a.m. at the residence of Jalal Jamaddar due to an electric short circuit. It quickly spread to the homes of his brothers and relatives, including Manik Jamaddar, Selim Jamaddar, Sufian Jamaddar, and Kamrul Jamaddar.
In the aftermath of the fire, at least five to six people suffered injuries while trying to extinguish the flames. The blaze consumed furniture, gold jewelry, and other valuable items, leaving them in ruins.
The Matlab Dakshin Fire Service, led by Team Leader Mehedi Hasan, responded promptly to the emergency. The fire was brought under control by 10:30 a.m. after an intense one-and-a-half-hour operation. Initial investigations by Mehedi Hasan confirmed that an electric short circuit was the likely cause of the fire.
