Dhaka: A fire that broke out at Zaman Tower, a multi-story building in Dhaka’s Purana Paltan area, was brought under control early today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, nine fire engines successfully doused the blaze at 7:35 am after nearly two hours of efforts. Fire Service and Civil Defence media officer Md Anwarul Islam reported that the fire began on the 4th and 5th floors of the tower located at 37, Box Culvert Road, Purana Paltan, at 5:35 am.
Firefighting units arrived at the scene within five minutes of receiving the information and managed to rescue two individuals from the 10th floor. No casualties have been reported, but the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain unknown.
