The fire, which broke out at a commercial building in the city’s Bijoynagar area on Saturday morning, has been doused, officials said.
The fire started around 11.40am at the multi-storey commercial building ‘Zaman Tower’ in the Purana Paltan’s Bijoynagar area. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
“Four fire tenders were pressed into service,” said Md Shahjahan Shikdar, deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
“The fire was brought under control at 11.58am and completely doused in another 15 minutes. The origin of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” he added.
