Fire at 14-Storey Haji Tower in Armanitola Under Control

Armanitola: A fire that broke out early this morning at Haji Tower, a 14-storey commercial cum residential building in the Babubazar area of Armanitola in Old Dhaka, was brought under control. Nine firefighting units rushed to the scene within five minutes after the fire originated on the sixth floor of the building at around 6:40am and doused the blaze around 7:20am.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman briefed reporters at the scene about the incident. The firefighting units included two from Sadarghat Fire Station, five from Siddiqbazar Fire Station, and two from Sutrapur Fire Station.



Firefighters managed to safely evacuate 17 people from the building using alternative staircases. The first four floors of the 14-storey structure are used for commercial purposes, while the remaining floors serve residential purposes.



There is no immediate information regarding casualties or the cause of the fire. The cause of the blaze and the extent of damage will be determined following an investigation, according to the FSCD official.
