Dhaka: Media Reform Commission Chief Kamal Ahmed today emphasized that the dignity of journalists cannot be ensured without their financial security. “Media reform cannot take place without financial security. Without ensuring financial stability, quality media cannot be guaranteed. Economic stability is essential for establishing an independent, objective, and robust media. Journalists will be able to carry out their professional duties freely if they are assured of financial security,” he stated while exchanging views with journalists at the Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium here.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Commission members Mostafa Sabuj and Akther Hossain Khan were among those present at the meeting. Kamal Ahmed assured that the Commission would submit the report within the stipulated time. He urged journalists to put pressure on the government to implement the recommendations, warning that no reforms would be realized without their insistence.

He further revealed that a national media survey was conducted from January 1 to 7 to gather opinions from readers, viewers, and listeners about the media. The survey collected feedback from about 45,000 households across the country. “We will make recommendations for reform based on the information from this survey,” he added.
