Dhaka: The Financial Institutions Division (FID) under the Ministry of Finance today formed a four-member committee to verify the authenticity of a viral “compromising video” allegedly involving Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) Chief AFM Shahinul Islam.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committee is led by Additional Secretary Saeed Qutub of the finance ministry. It has been tasked with submitting its findings and recommendations within seven working days, as specified in an office order signed by Deputy Secretary Afsana Bilkis.
The other members of the committee include Sirajul Islam, executive director of Bangladesh Bank, Matiur Rahman, director of Bangladesh Bank’s ICT-2, and Mohammad Saidul Islam, joint secretary of the finance ministry. The probe aims to determine the authenticity of the video and provide recommendations based on their findings.
