Federation Cup Handball: BGB lift men’s title beating Ansar and VDP

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) clinched the Walton Federation Cup Men's Handball crown, beating Bangladesh Ansar and VDP 35-29 in the final at the Shaheed Captain Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital Thursday.

The winners dominated the first half 16-12.

This was the fourth Federation Cup Handball title for the BGB men's team in the seventh version of the competition. They won the title in 2002, 2003 and 2005 as Bangladesh Rifles.

Tariqur Rahman of BGB was named the best men's player in the competition.

Walton Senior Executive Director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn was invited as the chief guest for the final. He later distributed the trophies.

Ansar and VDP Additional Director General Brigadier General Khondakar Farid Hasan was also present.

On Wednesday, Ansar and VDP won the women's Walton Federation Cup Handball Tournament, beating Tetulia Upazila Krira Sangstha 45-28 in the final at the same venue.
