Sunamganj: A farmer lost his life in a lightning strike in Paknar Haor under Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj district. The incident occurred today, claiming the life of Manik Mia, aged 35, who was a resident of Lakshmipur village in the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the unfortunate event took place around 1.30 pm while Manik Mia was engaged in harvesting paddy on his land in the haor area. The lightning strike was preceded by a rainstorm. Mohammad Saiful Islam, the Officer-in-Charge of Jamalganj Police Station, confirmed that Manik Mia died on the spot due to the lightning strike.
