Habiganj: A farmer lost his life in a lightning strike at Naogaon village in Nabiganj upazila on Monday afternoon. The victim was identified as 35-year-old Maksud Mia, a resident of the same village and the son of the late Shabar Ullah.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tragic incident occurred around 4 pm when Maksud was on his way to retrieve cows from the nearby haor area. As he was making his way, a sudden storm accompanied by rain began, during which Maksud was struck by lightning. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nabiganj Police Station, Md. Monayem Mia, confirmed the incident, highlighting the dangers posed by sudden weather changes in the region.
