Faridpur: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today announced plans to elevate Faridpur to a divisional status and establish a city corporation, contingent on the party's success in the forthcoming elections. Addressing a rally at the Government Rajendra College ground in Faridpur, Dr. Rahman outlined these ambitions while engaging with the local electorate.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Rahman criticized the nation's current condition, specifically lamenting the transformation of rivers into barren lands and pledging to rejuvenate these waterways. He expressed dissatisfaction with the limited services at Faridpur Medical College and raised concerns about the closure of jute mills, which had historically positioned the area as a jute production hub.
Dr. Rahman underscored the issue of youth unemployment, advocating for job creation over unemployment benefits. His vision includes reactivating shuttered mills and developing agriculture-based industries in regions rich in agricultural output.
"We are not aiming to establish a party-based government. We seek the victory of 180 million people. We want to build Bangladesh where all 180 million citizens can live in peace," he asserted.
During the rally, Dr. Rahman also introduced several candidates from the region, including Dr. Mohammad Elias Ali Mollah (Faridpur-1), Maulana Shah Akram Ali (Faridpur-2), Professor Abdut Tawab (Faridpur-3), Maulana Mohammad Sarwar Hossain (Faridpur-4), Advocate Nurul Islam (Rajbari-1), Jamil Hijazi (Rajbari-2), and Rofikul Islam (Madaripur-3). The event was presided over by Faridpur District Ameer Maulana Mohammad Badar Uddin.
