Faridpur Road Accident Claims Five Lives Including Four Family Members

Faridpur: Five people, including four members of a family from Madaripur, were killed in an accident in Nagarkanda upazila on Sunday morning. The tragic event occurred when a Dhaka-bound BRTC bus collided head-on with an ambulance on the Faridpur-Barisal highway.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Alamgir Molla, 55, his wife Khushi Begum, 36, his elder brother Jahangir Molla, 65, sister-in-law Beli Begum, 40, and the ambulance driver Kawsar Matubbar. Officer-in-Charge of Bhanga Highway Police Helal Uddin confirmed the incident.



Relatives of the victims reported that Alamgir Molla had been paralyzed two months prior but had shown improvement after treatment. His condition deteriorated suddenly on Sunday morning, prompting the family to take him by ambulance to Faridpur Diabetes Hospital for urgent care.



The journey ended tragically around 10:00 am in the Shankarpasha area of Nagarkanda upazila, where the ambulance collided with a BRTC bus. The impact was devastating, resulting in the death of all five occupants at the scene.



The bodies were transported to Balia village in Madaripur Sadar upazila by 4:00 pm, where grieving family members and villagers gathered. The father of the deceased, Haji Wahed Ali Molla, expressed his sorrow over the loss of his sons and daughters-in-law, noting their trip for medical aid ended in tragedy.



Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Marjina Akhter extended condolences to the family and pledged administrative support and a thorough investigation into the accident. Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Helaluddin of Bhanga Highway Police Station stated that police conducted rescue operations swiftly and that legal procedures are in progress.
