Manila:At the Asian Development Bank headquarters in Manila, Philippines, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin emphasized the significance of the Family Card program as a pivotal initiative addressing the global need for universal social protection.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sharmin spoke at a high-level plenary session of the Asia-Pacific Social Protection Week 2027. She highlighted that the Family Card program's impact extends beyond local assistance, contributing to the broader goal of achieving universal social protection.
Sharmin noted that Bangladesh's experience with the Family Card program provides valuable insights for international discussions. She emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences among countries to enhance the effectiveness of social protection systems.
The state minister also remarked on the policy priority of ensuring social protection in the Asia-Pacific region, citing challenges such as economic inequality, employment insecurity, and the need to protect vulnerable populations. She suggested that the development of social protection systems should prioritize people's needs in addressing these challenges.
