Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the party’s vice-chairman, former minister, and freedom fighter Abdullah Al Noman. Upon hearing the news of Noman’s death, Mirza Fakhrul and other senior BNP leaders promptly visited his residence in Dhanmondi.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BNP Secretary General Fakhrul prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and former adviser to the Caretaker Government Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman were present at the occasion.
The funeral prayer (namaz-e-janaza) for Abdullah Al Noman is scheduled to be held in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan after Asr prayers today. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral village in the Gohira family graveyard at Raozan upazila in the Chattogram district following another funeral prayer.
BNP Chairperson’s Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan reported that Noman suddenly fell ill at his Dhanmondi residence early this morning. He was rushed to Square Hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead around 6 am.
