Agartala: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, currently in London, has issued a strong condemnation of the attack on Bangladesh's Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India. In a statement released today, Fakhrul described the incident as a serious breach of international protocol. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the attack was reportedly carried out by members of an organization called 'Hindu Sangharsh Samity' and is believed to have been pre-planned. The BNP's Assistant Office Secretary, Taiful Islam Tipu, disseminated the statement to the media, highlighting the gravity of the situation. Fakhrul's statement emphasized that the act of bringing down the national flag of Bangladesh, setting it ablaze, and vandalizing the office of the assistant high commission is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention. He expressed concern that such actions, driven by internal political tactics in India, could lead to prolonged tensions between the two neighborin g countries. The BNP Secretary General urged the Indian government and its citizens to investigate the incident thoroughly. He also expressed hope that India would respect the democratic aspirations of Bangladesh's citizens and assist in the trial of leaders from the previous Awami League regime, who are currently in India, by facilitating their return.
