Faisal Mahmud’s Tenure at New Delhi Mission Ends

New delhi: The contractual appointment of Faisal Mahmud, who was serving as Minister (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, has been cancelled. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification stating that the remaining tenure of his contractual appointment has been terminated.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Faisal Mahmud was initially appointed for a two-year term in September 2024. The cancellation of his contract comes amid a political shift in Bangladesh, with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) preparing to assume power on February 17, following its victory in the February 12 elections. The new government is expected to announce a series of new appointments shortly.

Faisal Mahmud has a background in journalism, having reported on Bangladesh for several international media outlets, including Al Jazeera, Nikkei Asia, and Anadolu Agency. He is also the editor of the online news portal Bangla Outlook (English).
